Truro is served by a regular 4.5 hour rail service from London, Paddington. Newquay airport [18 miles] receives daily connections from Stanstead and Gatwick. Car hire facilities are provided by Hertz and Avis and local firms. We are happy to help with your car hire requirements as well as collection from Truro station or Newquay airport.
Where?
Hillside Cottage is located in Idless a little hamlet very near Truro. It is ideally situated in the heart of Cornwall between Newquay and Falmouth - just where there is a great shortage of good quality homely accommodation. People who have GPS (Satellite Navigation - now becoming quite common in new cars) can enter or latitude and longitude co-ordinates.p

Directions: From North
If you are coming to Cornwall from the North - Exeter, Birmingham and beyond:
You should travel down the A30. After bypassing Bodmin you will, after a while, come across two wind farms as you travel down the A30 towards Penzance. The first of these is at Carland Cross - over the road from a Shell garage on your left. Continue over the roundabout and travel for about 5 miles. Take the left turning signposted to Truro and Shortlanesend - the B3284. There is a wind farm immediately on your right as you travel down the B3284. As you approach Shortlanesend, just past the garage on your right is a turning to the left - Forge Way. Take this and go over the junction into Idless Lane for 1.2 miles. We are the second house on the left hand side. Cream in clour with a high stone wall. Park in the car park on your left.
Directions: From Truro
If your coming from the A39 (St Austell) via Truro:
A39 down hill to Truro, large roundabout. Take the 4th Exit which is signposted - B3284 to Perranporth. Follow this road for half a mile. You will come to a to small humped roundabout. Straight over & up hill, under viaduct. There is a pub - City Inn on left hand side. Take second road on right - Higher Trehaverne. Carry on for 1.6 miles through bungalow estate and into narrow lane.
When in Idless you will see a red phone box on right. Immediately take the left fork and proceed up the hill for 100 metres. Cobbled driveway on the right. Hillside is cream in colour and is protected by a high stone wall. Park in the drive on your right.
This is a real close up of where we live. However please note that if you use our post code to identify where we are you will get mis-directed as the postcode covers quite a large area. So look carefully at the blue line and you should not have too many problems finding us. Look closely for the 'Hillside Cottage' text on the map below.
